Dr. Les Wilner:
Dr. Leslie S. Wilner was born in 1949 in Brooklyn , N.Y. At the age of 2, his family moved to Cedarhurst , N.Y.
on Long Island and then 6 years later to Amityville , N.Y. While in high school, the family made a move which
would affect Dr. Wilner’s decisions for his future career. They moved to Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , where
they bought a small ranch. Throughout high school, he was able to work on cattle ranches in the state,
developing interest and skills in animal husbandry and medicine
Dr. Wilner’s (prefers to be called Les) college career began at the University of Oklahoma in Norman , Ok. He
was majoring in psychology, but his interest was veterinary medicine. Then in 1967, He transferred to Michigan
State University in E. Lansing , Mi.. He completed his B.S. and then his D.V.M. degree in 1971 at M.S.U.
Just after graduation, Dr. Wilner moved to Ft. Lauderdale , Florida , and began his small animal veterinary
career. Although he practiced conventional medicine for 12 years in Davie , Florida , his interest was to
establish his own practice where conventional and alternative medicine could be applied.
In 1983, Wilner Veterinary Clinic was established in Hollywood , Florida . In addition to conventional veterinary
medicine, the clinic provided nutritional supplement therapy, Chinese and Western herb therapy, acupuncture,
chiropractic care, and Native American shamanistic therapy. Presently, Dr. Wilner enjoys talking to people all
over the world through his phone consultation practice. He is helping people to solve their pets’ issues with
discussions and advice on chronic medical problems, difficult mystery cases, and general questions about pet
care.
Les is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical
Association, and American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. As an environment activist, he is a Member
of the Sierra Club, B. C. Environmental Coalition, Association of Veterinarians for the Environment, and the
Adirondack Club.
Dr. Wilner has been married to his wife, Leslie J, for 32 years. They have 2 children, Jessica, 31 and Jarrod,
27. They have 3 grandchildren; Cameron; Chloe; and Parker.
In 1991, he co-authored a book with Cecelia Ferretti Brownlow, titled White Cloud, Lakota Spirit . The book is a
spiritual journey through the wisdom of a Lakota shaman.
Most of the time, Les can be found with his wife at the beach in South Florida or on the Hudson River in Lake
Luzerne, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state
